Regular Season Round 15: Bernau - Rist Wedel 82-71

There was no surprise when 10th ranked SC Rist Wedel (5-10) was defeated on the road by second ranked SSV Lok Bernau (10-5) 82-71 on Sunday. SSV Lok Bernau dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to SC Rist Wedel's 26. They outrebounded SC Rist Wedel 41-23 including a 31-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. SSV Lok Bernau looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. SC Rist Wedel was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Robert Gloeckner (203-96) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Guard Robert Kulawick (192-86) chipped in 15 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Spanish swingman Damian Cortes-Rey (194-96) who recorded 15 points and naturalized Nigerian guard Osaro Rich-Igbineweka (187-98) added 10 points respectively. Four SC Rist Wedel players scored in double figures. SC Rist Wedel's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. SSV Lok Bernau maintains second place in North with 10-5 record having just three points less than leader Elchingen. Loser SC Rist Wedel keeps the tenth position with ten games lost. SSV Lok Bernau will face RSV Eintracht (#12) in Stahnsdorf in the next round and are hoping to win another game. SC Rist Wedel will play at home against Cuxhaven and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
