Regular Season Round 16: Mykolaiv - Cherkasy 76-84

The most important game in the last round took place in Mykolaiv between third ranked Mykolaiv (8-7) and fourth ranked Cherkasy (9-7) on Thursday night. Mykolaiv was defeated by Cherkasy in a tough game at home 76-84. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Mykolaiv. Cherkasy dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Mykolaiv's 30. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Shaheed Davis (206-94, college: Cent.Florida) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 7 rebounds and the former international forward Volodymyr Koniev (203-89) who added 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Five Cherkasy players scored in double figures. At the losing side center Oleksandr Kushnirov (210-92) responded with 13 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Denis Noskov (202-90) scored 15 points. Mykolaiv's coach Vladimir Polyakh rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Cherkasy have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Mykolaiv at the other side dropped to the fourth position with seven games lost. Cherkasy are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Zaporizhye (#8) in Zaporozhye in the next round where they are favorite. Mykolaiv will play at home against the league's second-placed Budivelnyk (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
