Regular Season Round 13: SumDU - Niko-Basket 89-70

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Niko-Basket (12-1) in Sumy on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by third ranked SumDU (8-5) 89-70. It ended at the same time the 12-game winning streak of Niko-Basket. SumDU forced 21 Niko-Basket turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Igor Starodub (187-97) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 6 rebounds. The former international forward Igor Kryvych (198-78) contributed with 20 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals for the winners. Four SumDU players scored in double figures. Swingman Maksym Ozhegov (190-90) answered with 22 points and the former international center Roman Gumeniuk (220-87) added 9 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Niko-Basket. Niko-Basket's coach rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. SumDU maintains third place with 8-5 record having four points less than leader Dinamo. Niko-Basket at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. SumDU are again looking forward to face league's leader Niko-Basket in Mykolaiv in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Niko-Basket will have a break next round.
