Very important is a home loss of second ranked Muenster (14-2) against seventh ranked Ibbenbueren (9-7) on Saturday night. Host Muenster was defeated by Ibbenbueren in a tough game in Muenster 81-90. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Muenster. Ibbenbueren forced 19 Muenster turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Denzel Johnson (190, college: Santa Clara) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 6 rebounds and forward Benjamin Fumey (203-87, college: Valparaiso) who added 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Four Ibbenbueren players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Bryce Leavitt (193-94, college: Seattle Pacific) responded with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and Stefan Wess (204-94) scored 12 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ibbenbueren have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place in West, which they share with Recklinghausen. Loser Muenster keeps the second position with two games lost. Ibbenbueren will meet at home higher ranked Duesseldorf (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Muenster will play against Hagen BG and hope to secure a win.
