Regular Season Round 17: Schwenningen - Speyer 72-66

Regionalliga round 17 caused change at the leadership position. Second defeat of league's leader Speyer (14-2) against second ranked BV Villingen-Schwenningen (15-1) 72-66 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the 12-game winning streak of Speyer. It was a key game for the top position in South-West. BV Villingen-Schwenningen dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Speyer's 30. American forward Rasheed Moore (196, college: E.Stroudsburg) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points and 6 rebounds. Croatian center Petar Madunic (212-93, agency: Court Side) contributed with 17 points and 6 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) for the winners. BV Villingen-Schwenningen's coach Alen Velcic used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Spanish point guard Jordi Salto (190-90) answered with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Jordan Rezendes (188, college: Mass.-Dartmouth) added 21 points in the effort for Speyer. BV Villingen-Schwenningen have an impressive series of fourteen victories in a row. They keep a position of South-West leader. Speyer at the other side dropped to the second place with two games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Grevenbroich. Speyer will play next round against strong Koblenz trying to make it back to the top of the standings. BV Villingen-Schwenningen will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Tuebingen II on the road.
