Third-ranked Silute (19-10) used its home court advantage to challenge first ranked Vytis (26-3) on Friday. The visitors from Sakiai managed to secure only three-point victory 74-71. However their fans expected easier game. Vytis made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Vytis outrebounded Silute 46-20 including a 21-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Gytis Radzevicius (195-95) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 16 rebounds. American guard Brian Wanamaker (185-89, college: Texas Wesleyan) contributed with 13 points for the winners. Wanamaker is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American forward Jeff Perkins (198-93, college: Hawaii-Hilo) answered with 15 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import point guard Caleb Oetjen (183-94, college: Bethel, IN) added 10 points and 5 assists in the effort for Silute. Silute's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Vytis have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain first place with 26-3 record. Silute at the other side keeps the third position with ten games lost. They share it with Neptunas-Akv.. Vytis are looking forward to face league's second-placed Suduva-Mantinga in Marijampole in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Silute will play on the road against Delikatesas in Joniskis and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
