Regular Season Round 18: Bochum - Oldenburg 82-80

Eighth-ranked Oldenburg (7-11) made lots of trouble for third ranked AstroStars (12-6) in Bochum on Saturday. AstroStars managed to secure only two-point victory 82-80. However their fans expected much easier game. AstroStars outrebounded Oldenburg 41-21 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Davon Roberts (197-86, college: Azusa Pacific) who had a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds. The other American import Ryon Howard (198-84, college: Sacred Heart) chipped in 16 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). AstroStars' coach Gary Johnson used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Haris Hujic (193-97) who recorded 28 points and point guard Jacob Hollatz (188-98) added 10 points, 11 assists and 4 steals respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. AstroStars have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place in North, which they share with Art.Dragons. Oldenburg at the other side dropped to the ninth position with 11 games lost. They share it with ETB Wohnbau. AstroStars is looking forward to face Rostock (#4) on the road in the next round. Oldenburg will play against SC Rist Wedel (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
