Regular Season Round 21: Mykolaiv - Politekhnik 83-89

Another exciting game was between seventh ranked Politekhnik and 4th placed Mykolaiv where Politekhnik (6-15) won against Mykolaiv (9-11) on the road 89-83. Mykolaiv was ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 25-16 third quarter run of Politekhnik. They made 30-of-31 charity shots (96.8 percent) during the game. Mykolaiv was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Serbian center Nikola Vujovic (210-93, college: Georgian Court) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. Serbian point guard Vuk Jovanovic (183-95) contributed with 22 points (went 13 for 13 at the free throw line !!!) for the winners. The former international guard Sergei Popov (196-88, agency: BeoBasket) answered with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Oleksandr Shostuha (191-84) added 17 points in the effort for Mykolaiv. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Mykolaiv's coach Vladimir Polyakh rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Politekhnik have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain seventh place with 6-15 record. Mykolaiv lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth position with 11 games lost. Politekhnik will play against league's leader Dnipro in Dnepropetrovsk in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mykolaiv will play on the road against Zaporizhye (#8) in Zaporozhye and hopes to get back on the winning track.
