Regular Season Round 23: Cherkasy - Mykolaiv 96-76

Not a big story in a game when 5th ranked Mykolaiv (9-14) was rolled over on the road by third ranked Cherkasy (16-8) 96-76. The game was mostly controlled by Cherkasy. Mykolaiv was better in second period 24-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Cherkasy players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was an exceptional evening for the former international swingman Oleksandr Kolchenko (195-88, agency: AproK Sports Group) who led the winners and scored 16 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Oleksandr Kobets (197-96) accounted for 15 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Center Oleksandr Kushnirov (210-92) came up with 15 points and 7 rebounds and the former international forward Olexiy Onufriyev (202-82) added 13 points respectively for Mykolaiv in the defeat. Four Mykolaiv players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Cherkasy. They maintain third place with 16-8 record having four points less than leader Dnipro. Mykolaiv lost their seventh game in a row. They keep the fifth position with 14 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
