Regular Season Round 21: Jena II - Oberhaching 74-85

Everything went according to plan when first ranked Oberhaching (16-3) defeated on the road 13th ranked Jena II (5-14) 85-74 on Saturday. Oberhaching dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Jena II's 22 and made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Jena II 42-29 including 33 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for point guard Janosch Koegler (190-93) who led his team to a victory with 15 points and 7 rebounds. American-Czech point guard John Boyer (185-88, college: Buffalo, agency: Dynamics Global Management) contributed with 7 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Boyer is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. American power forward Justin Smith (201-87, college: Hawaii-Hilo) answered with 14 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Jan Heber (187-98) added 16 points in the effort for Jena II. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Oberhaching have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place in South-East with 16-3 record, which they share with Gotha II. Loser Jena II dropped to the twelfth position with 14 games lost. Oberhaching will face Bamberg (#12) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Jena II will play against Treuchtlingen in Treutchlingen and hope to win that game.
