There was a minor upset in Langen where 8th ranked Rhein Main Baskets (7-11) were defeated by tenth ranked Speyer / Schifferstadt (6-12) 74-68. Strangely Rhein Main Baskets outrebounded Speyer / Schifferstadt 35-22 including 21 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by Finnish guard Sophie Weckstrom (173-93, college: Maine) who scored that evening 22 points and 5 assists and Canadian forward Kathryn Verboom (179-86) supported her with 19 points. Even 20 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) by American forward Tori Fisher (0, college: Colorado Springs) did not help to save the game for Rhein Main Baskets. Jasmin Weyell (178) added 12 points and 5 rebounds for the hosts. Four Rhein Main Baskets players scored in double figures. Speyer / Schifferstadt moved-up to ninth place in South, which they share with Bamberg. Rhein Main Baskets at the other side keep the eighth position with 11 games lost. Speyer / Schifferstadt's next round opponent will be higher ranked Weiterstadt (#4) at home and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
