Regular Season Round 21: Zalgiris - Dzukija 72-63

Leader Zalgiris delivered the twenty first victory. This time they beat 8th ranked Dzukija (7-17) 72-63 in Kaunas. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Dzukija won third quarter 19-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Zalgiris won last quarter 24-16. They made 24-of-29 charity shots (82.8 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Dzukija turnovers. Dzukija was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for international guard Edgaras Ulanovas (197-92) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). The former international Paulius Jankunas (205-84) contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) for the winners. American-Guinea-Bissau point guard Perry Petty (185-88, college: UTRGV) answered with 7 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and forward Paulius Petrilevicius (200-91, agency: Octagon Europe) added 13 points in the effort for Dzukija. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Defending champion maintains first place with 21-3 record. Dzukija lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 17 games lost. Zalgiris will play against Nevezis (#9) in Kedainiai in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Dzukija will play at home against Lietkabelis and hopes to get back on the winning track.
