There was no surprise when 7th ranked Yambol (5-12) was defeated on the road by third ranked Academik Plovdiv (12-5) 94-81. Academik Plovdiv made 18-of-22 charity shots (81.8 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. It was a very good performance for international Dimitar Dimitrov (203-93, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. American point guard Isiah Umipig (183-92, college: Seattle) contributed with 22 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Academik Plovdiv players scored in double figures. Academik Plovdiv's coach Asen Nikolov allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American guard Alan Arnett (196, college: Georgia SW) answered with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Stanislav Govedarov (185-80) added 16 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Yambol. Academik Plovdiv have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Rilski. Yambol at the other side keeps the seventh position with 12 games lost. They share it with Cherno More. Academik Plovdiv will play against Levski Lukoil (#4) in Sofia in the next round. Yambol will play at home against Spartak Pleven and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
