Regular Season Round 25: MBC - Telekom Bsk 61-87

Date: March 18, 2018
Very expected game in Weissenfels where 14th ranked Mitteldeutscher BC (7-18) was crushed by fifth ranked Telekom Baskets (16-8) 87-61. Telekom Baskets outrebounded Mitteldeutscher BC 34-22 including 27 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Telekom Baskets especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Josh Mayo (181-87, college: Ill.-Chicago, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 4 assists. His fellow American import guard Malcolm Hill (198-95, college: Illinois, agency: Pensack Sports) contributed with 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. American point guard Lamont Jones (183-90, college: Iona, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) answered with 18 points and naturalized American forward Sergio Kerusch (195-89, college: W.Kentucky) added 11 points in the effort for Mitteldeutscher BC. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Telekom Baskets. They maintain fifth place with 16-8 record. Mitteldeutscher BC lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the fourteenth position with 18 games lost. Telekom Baskets' next round opponent will be Deutsche Bank Skyliners (#7) in Frankfurt. Mitteldeutscher BC will play on the road against Oettinger Rockets Gotha (#17) and hope to win that game.
