Second Stage Round 3: Barreirense - Ovarense 71-69

A very close game took place in Barreiro between Barreirense and Ovarense. Barreirense (4-21) got a very close home victory over Ovarense (10-14). Barreirense managed to escape with a 2-point win 71-69 on Friday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. American players dominated the game. It was an exceptional evening for guard Lamonte Thomas (187-90, college: J.and Wales, RI) who led the winners and scored 22 points. Forward Phillip Lawrence (201, college: Marist) accounted for 7 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side. Point guard Will Perry (180-94, college: Lenoir-Rhyne) came up with 23 points and 7 rebounds and guard Ervin Mitchell (193, college: Grambling St.) added 17 points respectively for Ovarense in the defeat. Ovarense's coach Nuno Manarte rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Barreirense's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Barreiro Galitos-Barreiro.
