The game in Alytus was also quite interesting. Second ranked Lietuvos rytas (23-5) played at the court of 8th ranked Dzukija (9-19). Lietuvos rytas managed to secure a 8-point victory 81-73 on Saturday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-15. But Dzukija won fourth quarter 19-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. International Rokas Giedraitis (200-92) nailed 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side and international power forward Martynas Echodas (206-97) accounted for 14 points and 5 rebounds. Four Lietuvos rytas players scored in double figures. American-Guinea-Bissau point guard Perry Petty (185-88, college: UTRGV) came up with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists and American point guard Charles Callison (183-94, college: Washington St.) added 13 points and 4 assists respectively for Dzukija in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lietuvos rytas maintains second place with 23-5 record behind leader Zalgiris. Loser Dzukija keeps the eighth position with 19 games lost. Lietuvos rytas will meet at home bottom-ranked Vytautas (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Dzukija will play against the league's leader Zalgiris and hope to secure a win.
