Second Stage Round 5: Rogaska - Helios 90-86

There was no surprise in Rogaska Slatina where 6th ranked Helios (1-4) were defeated by fourth ranked Rogaska (3-2) 90-86 on Saturday. Helios were trailing by 9 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 36-31 charge of Rogaska, which allowed them to win the game. They made 21-of-21 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. The best player for the winners was American guard Rashun Davis (180-93, college: Radford) who scored 26 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!). International forward Mitja Nikolic-Smrdelj (200-91, agency: Players Group) chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds. Davis is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Rogaska's coach Damjan Novakovic used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. International forward Blaz Mahkovic (201-90, agency: PEPI SPORT) produced 16 points and 9 rebounds and the former international point guard Jure Mocnik (183-85) added 17 points and 7 assists (perfect from the field making all six shots) respectively for the guests. Four Rogaska and five Helios players scored in double figures. Rogaska maintains fourth place in Nova KBM with 3-2 record. Loser Helios dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. Rogaska will face league's leader Olimpija in Ljubljana in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Helios will play at home against Sencur Gor. (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
