Reign Unbroken: Cedevita Olimpija Sweep to Sixth Straight Crown — on Krka's Floor-Jun 1, 2026
There was no drama left to wring out of this final, only a coronation, and Cedevita Olimpija staged it in the last place their rivals would have wanted. The Ljubljana club closed out a 3-0 sweep of Krka with an 87-71 win before 500 spectators at the Leon Stuklja Hall on Sunday, claiming a sixth consecutive Slovenian title and the 23rd of the independent era the first time in their history they have lifted the championship trophy in the heart of Novo Mesto.
The result extends one of the most complete runs in Slovenian basketball. It is Cedevita Olimpija's 16th consecutive piece of domestic silverware, and the club has not lost a domestic final since February 2020, when they fell to Koper Primorska in the Spar Cup final. The last trophy to slip from their grasp came in the 2021 Cup, a semifinal exit against fittingly Krka. This title also completes a fifth straight domestic treble: the Supercup arrived last September, the Spar Cup in February, and now the league, the fourth of the last six championship series the serial winners have taken without dropping a single game.
The series itself offered only one genuine contest. The opener in Novo Mesto went to double overtime before Cedevita Olimpija prevailed; the second was a 17-point rout. By the time the teams returned to Dolenjska, Krka were a depleted side, missing three key players and with little realistic path to forcing the series on. Cedevita Olimpija built a 15-point cushion by halftime and, save for a few minutes early in the fourth quarter, kept Krka at double-digit arm's length the rest of the way.
Umoja Gibson (185-PG-1998, college: DePaul, agency: Octagon Europe) led the winners with 20 points on a tidy 4-of-5 from beyond the arc, but the finals MVP award went to DJ Stewart (174-PG), who finished with 19 points, five rebounds and three assists across the series-clinching effort. Aleksej Nikolic (191-PG-1995) chipped in 16 points, hitting 3 of 7 from three with five assists, and Miha Cerkvenik (201-G/F-2001) added 12 points and eight rebounds.
For Krka, Sukhmail Mathon (208-C-1998, college: Boston U.) was the most productive with 20 points and six rebounds, while Blaz Mahkovic (201-F-1990, agency: Interperformances) poured in 18. The runners-up remain stuck on seven national titles, a tally untouched since 2014; their most recent trophy of any kind was the 2021 Spar Cup.
