Second Stage Round 2: Craiova - Politehnica Iasi 122-59

The game between Craiova (14-11) and Politehnica Iasi (4-21) in Craiova ended with biggest points difference. Craiova outscored guests from Iasi 122-59. It looked good early as Politehnica Iasi took a 3-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Craiova had a 35-10 second period charge getting the lead and Politehnica Iasi was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 59-122. Craiova dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Politehnica Iasi's 32. Craiova forced 23 Politehnica Iasi turnovers and outrebounded them 40-27 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Craiova players were unselfish on offense dishing 37 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Politehnica Iasi's players. Croatian swingman Ivan Siriscevic (198-87, agency: PEPI SPORT) scored 29 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Estonian Martin Paasoja (191-93) chipped in 34 points (!!!) and 4 assists during the contest. Belarusian-Moldovan Vladislav Solopa (202-95) responded with 14 points and 9 rebounds and naturalized Canadian guard Matei Nuna (190-91, college: St.Clair) scored 14 points. Five Craiova and four Politehnica Iasi players scored in double figures. Craiova will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Politehnica Iasi will play on the road against Timba Timosoara (#10) in Timisoara and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
