There was no surprise in Alytus where 9th ranked Dzukija (9-24) was defeated by sixth ranked Siauliai (14-19) 107-99 on Saturday. Dzukija was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Siauliai made 23-of-26 free shots (88.5 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. International power forward Laurynas Birutis (213-97) had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and forward Donatas Sabeckis (197-92) chipped in 22 points and 5 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was American-Guinea-Bissau point guard Perry Petty (185-88, college: UTRGV) with 17 points and 5 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and forward Paulius Petrilevicius (200-91, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 15 points and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Siauliai moved-up to fifth place. Dzukija lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 24 games lost. Siauliai will meet bottom-ranked Vytautas (#10) in the next round where they are favorite. Dzukija will play against P.Zvaigzdes and hope to secure a win.
