Regular Season Round 26: Balkan - Levski Lukoil 79-71

An interesting game for Balkan (19-4) which hosted in Botevgrad second-ranked Levski Lukoil (17-9). First ranked Balkan managed to get a 8-point victory 79-71. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Levski Lukoil. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Levski Lukoil won fourth quarter 19-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Balkan looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American forward DeVaughn Washington (202-89, college: Ohio, agency: Mansfield and Associates) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Ventsislav Petkov (188-91, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American power forward Keith Clanton (205-90, college: Cent.Florida) replied with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international guard Bozhidar Avramov (196-90) added 21 points in the effort for Levski Lukoil. Four Levski Lukoil players scored in double figures. Levski Lukoil's coach Konstantin Papazov rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Balkan maintains first position with 19-4 record. Levski Lukoil at the other side keeps the second place with nine games lost. Balkan are looking forward to face Rilski (#4) in Samokov in the next round. Levski Lukoil's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Sofia Academic Sofia.
