Regular Season Round 31: Nevezis - Neptunas 74-67

The game between third ranked Neptunas (23-11) and eighth ranked Nevezis (12-23) was the most important one in the last round on Wednesday night. Neptunas was defeated by Nevezis in a tough game in Kedainiai 67-74. Neptunas trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 17-13 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 67-74 at the end of the game. They outrebounded Neptunas 37-26 including 28 on the defensive glass. 27 personal fouls committed by Neptunas helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Gabas Maldunas (206-93, college: Dartmouth) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Russian Aleksandr Zakharov (203-93) contributed with 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Five Nevezis players scored in double figures. The former international Renaldas Seibutis (196-85) answered with 16 points and 4 assists and the former international guard Tomas Delininkaitis (190-82) added 13 points in the effort for Neptunas. Neptunas' coach Kazys Maksvytis rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Nevezis have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to seventh place. Neptunas at the other side keeps the third position with 11 games lost. Nevezis are looking forward to face league's second-placed Zalgiris in Kaunas in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Neptunas will play on the road against Vytautas in Prienai and is hoping to win this game.
