The most surprising game was the first loss of Deisenhofen (4-1) in Munich on Thursday night. Visitors were defeated by seventh ranked Bayern (2-2) 79-72. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Deisenhofen. Bayern forced 19 Deisenhofen turnovers. Point guard Martin Kalu (194-2005) stepped up and scored 23 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and Ivan Kharchenkov (198-2006) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds. Naturalized American Omari Knox (185-1986, college: Bloomfield) responded with 18 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals and Janosch Koegler (190-1993) scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. Four Deisenhofen players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bayern moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Rist Wedel and Itzehoe. Deisenhofen at the other side dropped to the third position with one game lost. Bayern is looking forward to face Skyliners II (#11) in Frankfurt in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Deisenhofen will play at home against the league's leader Koblenz (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
