Regular Season Round 17: Suduva-Mantinga - Telsiai 62-69

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Marijampole. Second ranked Telsiai faced 3rd placed Suduva-Mantinga. Guests from Telsiai (15-2) defeated host Suduva-Mantinga (11-3) 69-62. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Suduva-Mantinga. Telsiai dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Suduva-Mantinga's 34. The best player for the winners was point guard Ignas Razutis (185-1987) who scored 12 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Ovidijus Kaminskis (195-1991) chipped in 11 points. Telsiai's coach Rytis Vaisvila used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Aurelijus Pukelis (205-1994) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds and Zygimantas Simonis (194-1995) added 10 points and 6 assists respectively for the hosts. Telsiai have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 15-2 record having just one point less than leader Zalgiris II. Suduva-Mantinga at the other side keeps the third position with three games lost. Telsiai are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Neptunas-Akv. (#14) in Klaipeda in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Suduva-Mantinga will play on the road against Palanga (#9) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
