Regular Season Round 19: Zalgiris II - Vytis 69-75

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Zalgiris II (16-2) in Kaunas on Thursday night. Hosts were defeated by fourth ranked Vytis (11-5) 75-69. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Zalgiris II. Strangely Zalgiris II outrebounded Vytis 36-23 including 22 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for point guard Titas Janusevicius (188-2001) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points. Guard Ernestas Jonkus (187-1999) helped adding 17 points. At the losing side center Motiejus Krivas (214-2004) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds and Gytis Nemeiksa (201-2001) scored 18 points and 6 rebounds. Zalgiris II's coach Vytautas Pliauga rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Vytis have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 11-5 record. Zalgiris II at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. Vytis are looking forward to face Stekas (#6) in Vilnius in the next round. Zalgiris II will play on the road against Suduva-Mantinga (#3) in Marijampole and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
