Regular Season Round 5: M.Ashdod - Kibirkstis-MRU 85-75

There was a small surprise when fourth ranked Israeli M.Ashdod (2-3) won against at home second-ranked Lithuanian Kibirkstis-MRU (2-3) 85-75 on Thursday. American guard Shatori Walker-Kimbrough (180-1996, college: Maryland) nailed a double-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side and her fellow American import center Kalani Brown (201-1997, college: Baylor, agency: LBM Management) accounted for 17 points and 8 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Power forward Gintare Petronyte (195-1989) came up with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Rachel Theriot (182-1994, college: Nebraska) added 15 points respectively for Kibirkstis-MRU in the defeat. Five M.Ashdod and four Kibirkstis-MRU players scored in double figures. Kibirkstis-MRU's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. M.Ashdod moved-up to second place, which they share with 10 other teams including defeated Kibirkstis-MRU. M.Ashdod will meet league's second-placed Botas A. in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Kibirkstis-MRU will play against the league's leader Uni Gyor and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
