Rather expected game when 8th ranked Vaerlose (4-8) was smashed by fifth ranked Bakken (8-3) in Aarhus 108-78 on Friday. Bakken dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Vaerlose's 44. Bakken forced 26 Vaerlose turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Bakken made 8 blocks. Senegalese center Michel Diouf (208-1989) nailed 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side and American forward Elijah Childs (202-1999, college: Bradley) accounted for 20 points. Forward Peter Bachmann (200-2002) came up with 14 points and 6 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) and the former international guard Mikkel Hauge (192-1999, college: Seattle) added 16 points respectively for Vaerlose in the defeat. Four Bakken and five Vaerlose players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place. Vaerlose lost their third game in a row. They keep the eighth position with eight games lost. Bakken will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Vaerlose will play against Amager (#10) in Kastrup and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
