There was a minor upset when 12th ranked Muenster (8-11) was defeated on the road by fourteenth ranked Science City Jena (8-12) 90-79 on Saturday. It was a great evening for center Bjoern Rohwer (212-1995) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points and 9 rebounds. American guard Seth Allen (185-1994, college: Virginia Tech) helped adding 14 points and 6 rebounds. Five Science City Jena players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international center Andreas Seiferth (209-1989, agency: LUMANI 10.7) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists and Cosmo Gruehn (201-1998) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Science City Jena maintains fourteenth place with 8-12 record. Newly promoted Muenster keeps the twelfth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Bremerhaven. Science City Jena will meet higher ranked Kirchheim Knights (#10) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Muenster will play against Phoenix Hagen and hope to secure a win.
