There was no surprise in Kocaeli where 10th ranked Antalya (7-13) was crushed by third ranked Izmit (16-4) 78-59 on Saturday. Izmit forced 21 Antalya turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Romanian forward Gabriela Marginean (182-1987, college: Drexel) stepped up and scored 12 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winners and the former international center Candide Ozturk (188-1989) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. The best for the losing side was forward Ozge Karatas (174-1996) with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and American forward Mikayla Cowling (188-1996, college: California, agency: LBM Management) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the tenth consecutive win for Izmit. They maintain third place with 16-4 record having four points less than leader Tarsus. Loser Antalya keeps the tenth position with 13 games lost. Izmit will meet Yalova Vip (#14) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Antalya will play against Emlak 2 (#13) and hope to secure a win.
