Regular Season Round 19: Zalgiris - Prienai 86-80

LKL top team - Zalgiris (16-3) added another victory to their record on Sunday. This time they beat twelfth ranked Prienai (1-18) in Kaunas 86-80. Zalgiris made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. It was a quality performance for the former international guard Tomas Dimsa (195-1994) who led the winners and scored 19 points and 6 assists. Latvian Rolands Smits (207-1995) accounted for 18 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) for the winning side. Justinas Jogminas (197-1997) came up with 21 points and 7 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) and the former international forward Darius Tarvydas (199-1991) added 17 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Prienai in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Zalgiris maintains first place with 16-3 record. Loser Prienai stay dead last with 18 lost games. Zalgiris will meet Juventus (#4) in the next round. Prienai will play against Jonava (#6) and hope to win that game.
