Regular Season Round 19: Besiktas - Anadolu Efes 92-98

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Istanbul: Anadolu Efes (#1) and Besiktas (#3). Besiktas was defeated at home 92-98 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Anadolu Efes dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Besiktas' 34. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Kaan Onat (-2007) who helped to win the game recording 19 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Center Salih Altuntas (208-2006) contributed with 13 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Ahmet Ozbek (-2005) answered with 20 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Yagiz Aksu (195-2006) added 14 points and 6 assists in the effort for Besiktas. Four Anadolu Efes and five Besiktas players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Anadolu Efes (18-0) have an impressive series of eighteen victories in a row. They maintain first place with a perfect record of 18 victories in a row, which they share with Gaziantep. Besiktas at the other side keeps the third position with seven games lost. They share it with Galatasaray.
