A very close game took place in Ploiesti between Ploiesti CSM and Steaua B.. Eleventh ranked Ploiesti CSM (11-2) got a very close home victory over 14th ranked Steaua B. (9-4). Ploiesti CSM managed to escape with a 1-point win 85-84 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Steaua B.. Steaua B. was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 9-point lead after three quarters before a 24-14 charge of Ploiesti CSM, which allowed them to win the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American Kenney Funderburk (193-1992, college: Columbus St.) stepped up and scored 21 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and Serbian center Veljko Brkic (206-1995) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds. Ploiesti CSM's coach Mihai Popa allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was Serbian guard Branislav Vujadinovic (196-1997, college: Assumption) with 20 points and 5 rebounds and American forward James Farr (208-1992, college: Xavier) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. Five Steaua B. players scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Ploiesti CSM. They maintain eleventh place with 11-2 record. Loser Steaua B. dropped to the thirteenth position with four games lost. They share it with Targu Mures.
