Regular Season Round 24: Veneto-Cherkasy - KIVS SBK 68-66

The most exciting game of round 24 in the Superleague took place in Cherkasy. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 6th ranked KIVS SBK (6-14) to fourth ranked Veneto-Cherkasy (4-16) 68-66 on Sunday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But KIVS SBK won fourth quarter 19-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Veneto-Cherkasy made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 KIVS SBK turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Anastasia Kostoglod (174-2005) who helped to win the game recording 38 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 4 assists and center Maria Pugach (181-2006) who added 19 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was swingman Elizaveta Vodovoz (175-2003) with 26 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Katerina Shtyk (175-2003) scored 19 points and 9 rebounds. KIVS SBK's coach Irina Klenina rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Veneto-Cherkasy maintains fourth position with 4-16 record. KIVS SBK at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the sixth place with 14 games lost. Veneto-Cherkasy are looking forward to face league's second-placed Dnipro at home in the next round and it may be the game of the week. KIVS SBK will play against the league's leader Kyiv Basket (#1) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
