The most important game of round 2 took place in Ploiesti where Ploiesti CSM beat Timisoara 86-78 in overtime on Saturday night. Timisoara was trailing by 10 points at halftime but managed to get 11-point lead after three quarters before a 23-12 charge of Ploiesti CSM, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 15-7. American Kenney Funderburk (193-1992, college: Columbus St.) had a double-double by scoring 32 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Serbian center Veljko Brkic (206-1995) chipped in 17 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Serbian guard Djordje Dimitrijevic (188-1997, college: Mercer) responded with 22 points and 9 assists and Serbian center Igor Kesar (210-1992, agency: Mansfield and Associates) scored 19 points and 7 rebounds. Timisoara's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Timisoara will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest. Ploiesti CSM will try to continue on its current victory against Craiova on the road.
