Regular Season Round 2: Izmit - Mersin 76-71

There was a surprise result in Kocaeli where Izmit defeated Mersin 76-71 on Sunday. American guard Jaime Nared (188-1995, college: Tennessee) had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import center Khaalia Hillsman (195-1996, college: Texas A&M) chipped in 17 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Four Izmit players scored in double figures. Ukrainian swingman Alina Iagupova (186-1992, agency: LBM Management) responded with 14 points and 8 assists and Hungarian center Virag Kiss (195-1998) scored 11 points and 9 rebounds. Mersin's coach Roberto Iniguez rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Izmit will meet Galatasaray in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Mersin will play against Hatay and hope to win that game.
