Regular Season Round 4: Ploiesti CSM - Focsani 78-67

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Ploiesti CSM and bottom-ranked Focsani had identical 0-3 record. This time Ploiesti CSM used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Focsani 78-67 on Friday night. The game was mostly controlled by Ploiesti CSM. Focsani managed to win second period 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Focsani 40-22 including a 31-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Ploiesti CSM looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American Kenney Funderburk (193-1992, college: Columbus St.) who helped to win the game recording 8 points, 9 rebounds and 10 assists and the former international center Bogdan Popa (212-1997, agency: BIG) who added 18 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Serbian point guard Pavle Reljic (193-1993) responded with 16 points and American guard Sherwood Brown (193, college: FGCU) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ploiesti CSM (1-3) left bottom position moving up to seventh place, which they share with Galati. It was Focsani's fourth loss in a row. They still close the standings with four games lost. Ploiesti CSM will meet higher ranked Rm Valcea (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Focsani will have a break next round.
