Regular Season Round 5: Triglav - Konjice 62-47

Bottom-ranked Konjice (0-4) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 62-47 loss to second ranked Triglav (4-1) in Kranj on Friday evening. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. Triglav forced 25 Konjice turnovers and outrebounded them 40-29 including 25 on the defensive glass. Forward Manca Vrecer (178-2002) stepped up and scored 12 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and the former international center Lara Bubnic (190-1999) chipped in 6 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Eva Brdnik (173-1997) responded with 9 points and 5 rebounds and Hana Ovcina (182-2005) scored 8 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Triglav. They maintain second place with 4-1 record behind leader Celje. Konjice lost their fourth game in a row. They still close the standings with four games lost. Triglav will meet Maribor (#4) on the road in the next round. Konjice will play against Odeja KED (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
