Regular Season Round 20: Gargzdu SM - Alytaus 96-73

Rather expected game when 10th ranked Alytaus (3-17) was smashed by eighth ranked Gargzdu SM (9-10) in Gargzdai 96-73. The game without a history. Gargzdu SM led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Gargzdu SM outrebounded Alytaus 64-20 including a 27-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Gargzdu SM players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Juozas Virkutis (203-2006) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 20 rebounds and Deinas Kuodys (-2006) who added 25 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists during the contest. Four Gargzdu SM players scored in double figures. Naglis Sestakauskas responded with 20 points and Matas Gavenauskas scored 16 points. Gargzdu SM moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Utenos. Alytaus lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 17 games lost. They share it with Druskininku. Gargzdu SM will play against higher ranked VKKM (#3) in Vilniaus in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Alytaus will play at home against Utenos (#7) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
