Regular Season Round 8: Spartak Pleven - Rilski Sportist 81-74

Spartak Pleven finally managed to bring joy to their fans and recorded a win for first time in more than a month in NBL. The players of Darin Velikov defeated Rilski Sportist at home 81-74 but at times were up by 23 points. The visitors started better and were ahead 8-14 but Spartak took the lead after the first quarter 20-17. Rilski tied the score in the second but in the last three minutes the hosts made a run of 12-1 and went in to the locker room with a 10-point advantage. After the break a run of 11 straight points practically decided the game for Spartak as after three minutes of play in the third quarter the hosts were ahead 58-37. At the end of this quarter they kept their lead, 73-52. Like the game in Yambol last week Rilski managed to make a good run in the last quarter as with minute to play in the game cut the deficit to only 5, 77-72. Unfortunately for them it was too late and couldn't complete the comeback. Rob Preston had a strong game with 21 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists. Iliya Stankov scored 20 points coming off the bench and the captain Hrisimir Dimitrov had 14 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Aleksandar Gruev was the best player for the visitors with 14 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals. Travis Peterson added 11 points and 9 rebounds but the top scorer for the team was Simeon Naydenov with 16 points. (by Valentin Anguelov)
