Regular Season Round 1: Tigers - Kings 68-84

Date: October 15, 2010
There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Kings (1-14) defeated on the road 7th ranked Melbourne Tigers (5-10) 84-68 on Friday. Kings had a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. The former international center Julian Khazzouh (211-86) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 17 rebounds for the winners and American forward Taj McCullough (201-86, college: Winthrop) chipped in 14 points. At the losing side the former international center Luke Nevill (218-86, college: Utah) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and the former international power forward Matthew Burston (210-82) scored 13 points. Four Melbourne Tigers players scored in double figures. Melbourne Tigers' coach tested twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Kings maintains ninth place with 1-14 record. Loser Melbourne Tigers dropped to the eighth position with ten games lost. Kings will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Melbourne Tigers will play against the league's second-placed Perth Wildcats (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.
