Very important is a road loss of third ranked Cairns Taipans (9-4) against fifth ranked Townsville Crocodiles (10-7) on Saturday night. Visiting Cairns Taipans were defeated by Townsville Crocodiles in a tough game in Wulguru 70-79. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Cairns Taipans. Townsville Crocodiles made 19-of-25 charity shots (76.0 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Gabe Freeman (198-85, college: Costa Mesa JC) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). The former international power forward Russell Hinder (208-79, college: Augusta St.) contributed with 18 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. The former international power forward Alexander Loughton (205-83, college: ODU) answered with 21 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Ayinde Ubaka (193-85, college: California) added 16 points in the effort for Cairns Taipans. Townsville Crocodiles has a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to third place. Cairns Taipans at the other side dropped to the fourth position with four games lost.
