Regular Season Round 2: Blaze - Crocodiles 94-90

The game in Broadbeach was quite interesting. 5th ranked Townsville Crocodiles (10-7) played at the court of seventh ranked Gold Coast Blaze (6-9). Gold Coast Blaze managed to secure a 4-point victory 94-90 on Sunday. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Townsville Crocodiles. Gold Coast Blaze forced 19 Townsville Crocodiles turnovers. The former international forward Mark Worthington (202-83, college: Metro St.) scored 26 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international power forward Anthony Petrie (203-83) chipped in 17 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. The former international power forward Russell Hinder (208-79, college: Augusta St.) responded with 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and American forward Gabe Freeman (198-85, college: Costa Mesa JC) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Townsville Crocodiles' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Gold Coast Blaze moved-up to sixth place. Loser Townsville Crocodiles dropped to the third position with seven games lost. Gold Coast Blaze will meet at home higher ranked Cairns Taipans (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Townsville Crocodiles will play against Kings in Sydney and hope to secure a win.
