Regular Season Round 3: Wildcats - Hawks 87-84

The most exciting game of round 3 in the NBL took place in Perth. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 4th placed Wollongong Hawks (9-7) to second ranked Perth Wildcats (11-5) 87-84 on Friday evening. Perth Wildcats forced 20 Wollongong Hawks turnovers. The best player for the winners was forward Jesse Wagstaff (203-86, college: Metro St.) who had a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Cameron Tovey (200-85, college: Augusta St.) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. Four Perth Wildcats players scored in double figures. Perth Wildcats' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international forward Oscar Forman (205-82) who recorded 23 points and 8 rebounds and center Larry Davidson (207-83, college: Boise St.) added 12 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Defending champion maintains second place with 11-5 record behind leader Breakers. Wollongong Hawks lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth position with seven games lost. Perth Wildcats are looking forward to face Cairns Taipans (#4) on the road in the next round. Wollongong Hawks will play against Melbourne Tigers and are hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
