Regular Season Round 3: 36ers - Hawks 82-96

The game in Findon was quite interesting. Fourth ranked Wollongong Hawks (9-7) played at the court of 6th ranked Adelaide 36ers (5-9). Wollongong Hawks defeated Adelaide 36ers 96-82. Wollongong Hawks shot the lights out from three nailing 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Gary Ervin (186-83, college: Arkansas) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 assists. Center Larry Davidson (207-83, college: Boise St.) accounted for 15 points and 17 rebounds for the winning side. Five Wollongong Hawks players scored in double figures. American guard Craig Winder (188-84, college: Texas, agency: Prossin Sports Management) came up with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import guard Troy DeVries (193-82, college: N.Mexico) added 9 points and 11 assists respectively for Adelaide 36ers in the defeat. Despite that victory Wollongong Hawks went down to fifth position due to points difference. Adelaide 36ers at the other side dropped to the seventh place with nine games lost. Wollongong Hawks' next round opponent will be Melbourne Tigers (#8) on the road. Adelaide 36ers will play against Kings in Sydney and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
