Leader New Zealand Breakers delivered the twelfth victory. This time they beat 7th ranked Gold Coast Blaze (6-9) 96-81 in Broadbeach. Gold Coast Blaze was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Gary Wilkinson (206-82, college: Utah St.) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 7 rebounds. New Zealand swingman Thomas Abercrombie (198-87, college: Washington St.) contributed with 15 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. New Zealand Breakers' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The former international forward Mark Worthington (202-83, college: Metro St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and forward Stephen Hoare (201-75, college: N.Idaho JC) added 12 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Gold Coast Blaze. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. New Zealand Breakers maintains first position with 12-3 record. Gold Coast Blaze at the other side dropped to the sixth place with nine games lost. New Zealand Breakers will play against league's second-placed Perth Wildcats on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Gold Coast Blaze will play against Cairns Taipans (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
