There was no surprise in Gwynneville where 7th ranked Melbourne Tigers (5-10) were defeated by fourth ranked Wollongong Hawks (9-7) 93-82. Wollongong Hawks made 28-of-34 charity shots (82.4 percent) during the game. American guard Gary Ervin (186-83, college: Arkansas) orchestrated the victory by scoring 26 points and 7 assists. The former international swingman Glen Saville (197-76) contributed with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American guard Eric Devendorf (193-87, college: Syracuse) answered with 19 points and 4 assists and the former international center Luke Nevill (218-86, college: Utah) added 14 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Melbourne Tigers. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Despite that victory Wollongong Hawks went down to fifth position due to points difference. Melbourne Tigers at the other side dropped to the eighth place with ten games lost.
