Regular Season Round 6: Blaze - Tigers 82-85

Date: November 21, 2010
A very interesting game took place in Broadbeach. It ended with only three-point home defeat of 7th ranked Gold Coast Blaze (6-9) to seventh ranked Melbourne Tigers (5-10) 85-82 on Sunday evening. It was a good game for Jamaican-American guard Corey Williams (191-77, college: Alabama St.) who led his team to a victory with 19 points and 7 rebounds. The former international forward Tommy Greer (201-83, college: Nova SE) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Melbourne Tigers' coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. International guard Adam Gibson (188-86) replied with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists and the former international forward Mark Worthington (202-83, college: Metro St.) added 17 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Gold Coast Blaze. Melbourne Tigers has a solid three-game winning streak. Despite that victory Melbourne Tigers went down to eighth position due to points difference. Gold Coast Blaze at the other side dropped to the sixth place with nine games lost. Melbourne Tigers will play against higher ranked Townsville Crocodiles (#3) in Wulguru in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Gold Coast Blaze will play on the road against the league's leader New Zealand Breakers where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
