There was no surprise in Toluca where 18th ranked Volcanes (2-34) were defeated by sixteenth ranked Titanes (8-27) 87-80 on Thursday. Titanes dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Volcanes' 28. Titanes had a 30-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. Cameroonian forward Salomon Angounou (202-83, college: Arizona St.) fired a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Naturalized American swingman Abdu Martin (196-76) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. Four Titanes players scored in double figures. American guard Larry Morinia (180-80, college: Montana St., agency: ProSportsCareers) produced 40 points (!!!) and 5 assists and American-Barbados swingman Malcolm Connor (198-80, college: W.New Mexico) added 17 points and 10 rebounds respectively for lost side. Newly promoted Titanes maintains sixteenth place with 8-27 record. Volcanes lost their seventh game in a row. Volcanes at the other side, also newcomer in the league, stay dead last with 34 lost games. Titanes will face league's leader Pioneros in Cancun in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Volcanes will play at home against Algodoneros (#15) in la Comarca.
