Regular Season Round 26: Lechugueros - Algodoneros 104-62

There was no surprise in Leon where 14th ranked Algodoneros (8-17) were crushed by eighth ranked Lechugueros (22-14) 104-62 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was Jamaican guard Ricky Johns (193-85, college: Utah) who scored 21 points and 8 assists. American forward Marcus Jackson (202-82, college: Marquette, agency: Court Side) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Four Lechugueros players scored in double figures. Lechugueros had such big advantage that coach Jesse Teplitzky felt comfortable to give the chance to play for 11 players saving starting five for next games. American power forward John Ruffus (207-81, college: Fayetteville St.) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds (was perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line !!!) and guard Jose Luis Aguilar (188-78) added 12 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for the guests. Lechugueros moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Lobos Grises and Huracanes. Algodoneros lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the fifteenth position with 17 games lost. Lechugueros will face Titanes (#16) in Mexico City in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
