Very significant was Okinawa GK's (#4) 68-63 road victory against 3rd placed Niigata Albirex in the game for the second place. American center Jeff Newton (205-81, college: Indiana) nailed double-double 11 points and 13 rebounds for the winning side and his countryman forward David Palmer (201-82, college: S.Utah) accounted for 19 points and 5 rebounds. Trinidad and Tobago power forward Julius Ashby (205-82, college: Colorado) came up with 24 points and 8 rebounds and guard Naoto Takushi (183-81) added 12 points and 5 rebounds for Niigata Albirex in defeat. That victory allowed Okinawa GK (7-6) to climb to second place. They share it with Sendai 89ers. Niigata Albirex (5-6) on the other side took third position as they recorded their sixth loss. Okinawa GK will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Niigata Albirex will play on the road against Okinawa GK to get back on winning track.
